hey I have a braillenote 8.0 and I was wondering if there is any way to translate unsupported file types into supported file types without using a computer?

Hi,
There is no way to do it on the unit it's self. You would need a computer to get the file types... What file types are you working with?

If you have kurzweil 1000 or openbook on your computer, this may be an option. You can convert them through either software using the open file feature, or the virtual printer. However, with the BN itself, PDF files are not usable.

Hi,
In adobe reader, you can usually just save the file as a txt document and then transfer it to the braille note.
Hope this helps.

That works, but not with all pdf files. It depends on how they're tagged and how they're formatted.

If you don't wish to use Adobe reader, email your pdf to pdf2txt@adobe.com
or download PDF2txt from
